How to Tell if You Are in the Wrong Career

You spend most of your adult life doing your job, but are you in the right career? Work satisfaction has an impact on your mental health and what you need to know is that knowing which career you fit into just doesn’t happen instantly. You will need to undergo a series of trials and errors to know which position you best fit in. Now, how do you determine that you are in the wrong career currently?

Read on as we give you the signs you are in the wrong career:

Boredom and calling in sick most times.

Being unhappy and unsatisfied with your job can make you feel sick, miserable, and bored and this makes it so difficult to get yourself to work in the morning because you have no motivation. You feel tired and tempted to call in sick all the time. This is a red flag. If you experience this, then you might need a vacation or a change of jobs.

You feel overworked and underpaid

The top red flag that you are in the wrong career is that you constantly feel drained, overworked, and underpaid. A career that is fulfilling should excite you and shouldn’t make you feel overworked hence if you begin feeling this way, you might need a change. It doesn’t matter if you are just starting out or have worked for more than 10 years, change is important and it’s never too late for a change especially that leads you to do what you will enjoy doing.

You feel like you are not being challenged.

If you feel bored, uninspired, and just tired of your routine at work, then it might be time for a career change. Fulfillment in our jobs comes in when we use our skills, abilities, and creativity while doing the job hence it’s good to look for something you are passionate about. If you don’t know where to start, ask yourself what activities you love engaging in, and what you would never get bored doing, and then begin to evaluate the career in that area of interest.

You feel called to do something different.

You might not be so sure what you were called to do, but you clearly feel you are not wired to handle your current job. Most people are not doing what they love because of fear of the unknown hence they end up being stuck in the wrong career for the most part of their lives. If you feel called to do something different, go for it!
